Catherine Crino is the sister of Stephanie Crino, who was murdered in Texas in 1995. As a lay minister in the church for over 20 years, Cathy was against the death penalty. Her experience of her sister’s murder solidified that belief as she realized in new ways how deficient capital punishment is as an answer to murder. Cathy has written and spoken about the death penalty for a number of years, and was very active in the repeal in Illinois in 2011. She has also served on the board of Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation.
Cathy is a Pastoral Associate and Director of Religious Education at St. Alphonsus in Chicago. She a graduate of UCLA and Weston Jesuit School of Theology (now Boston College School of Theology and Ministry.)
