March 2-4, 2012: Imago Dei Conference: Proclaiming Our Human Dignity Through Solidarity (Cincinnati, OH)

Learning how to see and respect the image of God in others can sometimes be a challenge in everyday life with immigration, unemployment, end of life and death penalty issues. These issues and others will be viewed through the lens of how the human dignity of the poor and vulnerable are faring at the Imago Dei Conference at the University of Dayton’s Kennedy Union. CMN’s Karen Clifton and Vicki Schieber will join the conference as part of a series of events in the area.

March 8, 2012 – Vicki Schieber to Address Seminarians on Catholic Teaching and the Death Penalty (Emmitsburg, MD)

CMN’s Vicki Schieber will present on Catholic teaching and the death penalty to the rector and seminarians of Mount Saint Mary Catholic Seminary, 16300 Old Emmitsburg Road
Emmitsburg, MD from 4 to 5 pm. The presentation will be followed by an evening prayer service.

March 9-11,2012: Consistent Life 25th Anniversary Conference (Chevy Chase, MD)

This conference, which will take place at the Chevy Chase 4-H Youth Conference Center, marks the 25th anniversary of Consistent Life (CL), founded in 1987 as the Seamless Garment Network. The main purposes of the Conference are to

• Publicize the Consistent Life Ethic (CLE) and foster its growth in the area, the nation and the world;
• Bring together a diverse group of CLE supporters nationally/internationally for mutual support and encouragement, and to consider ways to forward the CLE message; and
• Reach out to the metropolitan Washington area about the CLE.

March 22-25, 2012: Los Angeles Religious Education Conference (Los Angeles, CA)

The Los Angeles Religious Education Congress is the largest annual gathering of its kind in the world. The four-day event is held at the Anaheim Convention Center and is sponsored by the Office of Religious Education, a department of the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Begun in 1968 as an “institute,” Congress still keeps the same focus — to teach more about the Catholic faith as well as to advance personal growth. Today the event is open to people of all vocations and different faiths. CMN will have a table at the conference, and Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ, will give a pair of talks at the event.

March 23-26, 2012: Ecumenical Advocacy Days (Washington, DC)

CMN will be participating in this year’s 10th annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice sponsored by over 50 Catholic and Christian organizations. Entitled “Is THIS the Fast I Seek?: Economy, Livelihood, and Our National Priorities,” this national event will gather Christians from all over the nation to explore economy, livelihood and our national priorities through the lens of the biblical prophets and the message of Jesus. Join other Christians in seeking a global economy and a national budget that break the yokes of injustice, poverty, hunger and unemployment throughout the world — heeding Isaiah’s call to become “repairers of the breach and restorers of streets to live in.” Conference events also include a lobby day on Capitol Hill for legislation aimed at bringing about a more just national budget.

March 29, 2012 – “Now I Walk on Death Row” Presentation by Dale and Susan Recinella (Crestview Hills, KY)

CMN’s Dale Recinella and Dr. Susan Ward Recinella will speak about their ministry to death row inmates and their families as part of the Hillenmeyer Lecture Series at St. Thomas More College, 333 Thomas More Parkway, Crestview Hills.
