Elizabeth (Betsy) Linehan is a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.  She is currently a Professor Emerita of Philosophy at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.  Betsy has lectured and published on capital punishment, and on criminal justice ethics more generally, and since 2009 has taught in the Inside Out Prison Exchange Program.  At present she is a facilitator in the Alternatives to Violence Program at the State Correctional Institution at Phoenix, outside Philadelphia. She holds a Ph.D. awarded by Fordham University in 1976.
