Ian considers himself first and foremost to be an advocate for human rights, and has devoted his life’s work to addressing the systemic effects of mass incarceration. He attended L’Institut international des droits de l’Homme in Strasbourg, France in 2014 and he holds a JD from Trinity Law School, where he earned high-honors in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ian has been actively working as a DRPA-certified mediator in California for six years and began his work with Restorative Justice and Mediation Program (RJMP) as volunteer facilitator in early 2015 while running a civil mediation practice. Serving in that role fueled his passion for working with youth and he eventually turned his career path toward public service, working first as a supervisor in the Juvenile Dependency Courts, and eventually coming to RJMP full-time as a Program Manager in early 2019. In his new role as Executive Director, Ian is passionate about continuing the organization’s efforts to serve crime victims, offenders, survivors of intimate partner violence and those living in incarceration. His vision is to help RJMP become a model of Restorative Justice services in Southern California and beyond.
