Lara Bazelon is a professor of law at the University of San Francisco School of Law where she holds the Barnett Chair in Trial Advocacy and directs the Criminal & Juvenile and Racial Justice Clinics.  Her recent writing has focused on restorative justice and how it can work as an alternative to the traditional adversarial criminal court process.  Her first book: RECTIFY: THE POWER OF RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AFTER WRONGFUL CONVICTION, was published in 2018.  Her most recent law review articles, co-written with Fordham Law Professor Bruce Green, are entitled Victims' Rights from a Restorative Perspective and Restorative Justice from Prosecutors' Perspective.  Her essays and op-eds have been published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic Magazine, and other media outlets. In September 2020, San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin appointed Professor Bazelon to chair his newly formed six member Innocence Commission.
