Take part in a restorative practice firsthand in CMN's "Intro to Restorative Circles: A First Experience." Together with experienced facilitators, participants will go through a community-building circle process and reflect upon opportunities for the application of restorative circles in ministry.
This workshop is ideal for anyone new to restorative practices or who attended a recent CMN webinar on restorative justice engagement or synodality.

About the Event
Restorative practices create spaces to hold difficult conversations that honor every person's voice, story, and dignity. "Circle process" is a foundational restorative practice that can be applied ministry settings for reflection, community building, and social action.
In "Intro to Restorative Circles: A First Experience," participants will:
LEARN the core principles of restorative justice and how they connect with Catholic teaching
HEAR stories of restorative practices being applied in Catholic parish and ministry settings
EXPERIENCE a community-building circle with fellow ministry leaders
REFLECT on opportunities for restorative approaches in their lives and ministries

Attendees will receive a packet of supplementary materials including "Paths of Renewed Encounter: A Restorative Justice Engagement Guide for Catholic Communities," The Little Book of Circle Process by Kay Pranis, Harm Healing and Human Dignity, and more!

About our Facilitators
Bobby Ehnow, PhD is the Director for the Office for Life, Peace and Justice at the Diocese of San Diego. He is an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University’s School of Public Affairs and Santa Clara University’s School of Arts and Sciences. He is President of the Board for the Restorative Justice Mediation Program (RJMP). He is married to his best friend, Colette, and together they have four children. He is a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Coronado, CA.
Lynne Lang is founder and executive director for Restoration Matters in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds her M.S. in Health Management and in Restorative Practices, and has trained in school safety and violence prevention since 1998. She developed Virtue-Based Restorative Discipline (VBRD™), a Catholic response to bullying behaviors (Our Sunday Visitor, 2013), and is a licensed trainer and coach for International Institute for Restorative Practices. She enjoys working locally on community restorative projects, volunteering at her parish, spending time with her husband, family, and their rescue Chihuahua, Buddy.
Caitlin Morneau serves as Director of Restorative Justice at Catholic Mobilizing Network. She was the lead adaptor for CMN’s faith formation guide, Harm, Healing and Human Dignity: A Catholic Encounter with Restorative Justice, and led the collaborative creation of Paths of Renewed Encounter: A Restorative Justice Engagement Guide for Catholic Communities. Caitlin holds an MA in Conflict Transformation from the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University and is trained in circle process and restorative community conferencing.
