This October, join people of faith across Ohio who are standing in solidarity against capital punishment and voicing support for two death penalty abolition bills currently pending in the state's legislature.

About Abolition Week (October 8-17, 2021)

Recognizing the injustices in the criminal legal system, Ohioans from a host of faith traditions are unwilling to participate in the cruel and inhumane practice of sentencing fellow neighbors to death.

Death Penalty Abolition Week is an opportunity for Ohio faith communities to join together October 8-17, 2021 to speak out in opposition to the state's death penalty.

Resources for Abolition Week

CMN's Respect Life Month Toolkit

Death Penalty Abolition Week falls during the U.S. Catholic Church's annual October observance of Respect Life Month. This is a time for Catholics to contemplate the sanctity of life and to oppose broken systems that violate human dignity.

As you and your parish community discern ways to engage in Abolition Week, you are invited to use CMN's annual Respect Life Month Toolkit for inspiration around ways to educate, advocate, and pray for an end to the death penalty. The toolkit features prayers, videos, handouts, social media resources, parish bulletin samples, and more.
