About CSMG
This central gathering of Catholic social ministry leaders in the U.S. annually brings together hundreds of participants whose faith inspires them to respond to pressing current domestic and global challenges. This year’s theme, “Blessed are the Peacemakers” (Mt. 5:9), recognizes the call to heal in a world broken by conflict, division, and inequality. Inspired by Jesus’ example and the Eucharist, we must encounter, listen, accompany, and work together to build peace. Click here to register.
CMN at CSMG
You can find CMN in the CSMG exhibit hall. You can hear all about CMN's latest work, take home your favorite resources, and find out your next steps for ending the death penalty and promoting restorative justice.
CMN will also be co-presenting with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for a workshop, "Restoring Justice, Renewing Church" on Sunday Jan. 29, 2023 from 1:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
Workshop description: Restorative justice is an approach to crime and harm that seeks healing, rather than vengeance. Where people and relationships are violated, restorative practices include those impacted by harm in voluntary processes aimed to address needs, build understanding, and make amends, to move forward in the spirit of right relationship. In this workshop, presenters will illuminate how this approach equips ministers and advocates as leaders in a synodal Church, shaped by listening, encounter, and accompaniment. Through stories and examples from the criminal legal system, this workshop will consider the many opportunities for healing forms of justice in ministry, communities, and systems.
