About the Event

In this day-long retreat, you will gain clarity and direction for implementing restorative practices in your institution or area of ministry. Retreatants will be accompanied by experienced restorative justice ministry practitioners and guided by tools in Paths of Renewed Encounter: A Restorative Justice Engagement Guide for Catholic Communities.

The retreat is ideal for those who are familiar with restorative justice principles and practices, but are uncertain about where or how to begin (or continue) implementing them. Just getting started with restorative justice? Join us for an Intro to Restorative Justice workshop.

Theme: Victim-Survivor Accompaniment

Unhealed trauma is a key barrier to human flourishing and too often, the needs of victims/harmed persons are neglected by the criminal legal system and faith-communities alike. This retreat will explore opportunities for restorative practices to meet needs of harmed persons, repair relationships, and heal communities.

Goals and Learning Objectives

BUILD relationships and share wisdom with a community of ministers in a similar area of practice

REFLECT on personal experiences that motivate your pursuit of restorative justice and practice communicating about restorative justice as it connects to your ministry’s mission and vision

CONSIDER types of restorative justice practices that will invite support and engagement with your vision

TAKE STOCK of the blessings, strengths, and resources supporting your implementation and how you may be called to steward them.

DEVELOP a customized roadmap of next steps to incorporate restorative practices within ministry or parish life.
