Catholic Mobilizing Network, Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition, and Joseph House (three Catholic criminal justice reform ministry organizations) seek a grant writer to work with each organization separately on their respective granting needs. This remote position is contracted independently with each organization on an hourly basis, totaling 25-35 hours weekly. The search committee will include staff from each organization and interviews will be conducted collaboratively. 

The grant writer will oversee grant applications, proposals, and reports for each organization. This will include working alongside staff for program needs in applications and impact for reports. The grant writer will also monitor application and reporting deadlines, while actively researching new foundation opportunities for funding.

Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality, well-positioned funding proposals and project manage all aspects of the pre- and post-award proposal and report writing processes

  • Oversee all grant applications and grant reports

  • Work closely with program staff to quantify goals and impact for grant applications 

  • Actively engage in ongoing prospect research that identifies funding opportunities

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and prospective funders

  • Provide effective coordination of activities for funding opportunities

  • Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of key staff, program, and policy areas, and the protocols for effective communication within each organization

Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the area of fundraising and non-profit development

  • Top-notch writing and oral communication skills, including proven experience in grant writing and reporting

  • Desire to work within the framework of the Catholic Church to promote the dignity of all people, especially those affected by incarceration/detention

  • Understanding of Catholic social teaching, and a commitment to its core values including a commitment to racial equity

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, implement goals, and maintain a high attention to accuracy and detail

  • Comfort working independently, appreciative of a collaborative work environment 

  • Tech savvy, familiar with donor databases and new technology a plus

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in a related field preferred

Supervision

The grant writer will be meet independently with a designated supervisor at each organization

Catholic Mobilizing Network

Catholic Mobilizing Network (CMN) is a national organization that mobilizes Catholics and all people of goodwill to value life over death, to end the use of the death penalty, to transform the U.S. criminal justice system from punitive to restorative, and to build capacity in U.S. society to engage in restorative practices. Through education, advocacy, and prayer, and based on the Gospel value that every human is created in the image and likeness of God, CMN expresses the fundamental belief that all those who have caused or been impacted by crime should be treated with dignity.

Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition

The Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition (CPMC) promotes ministry to all people affected by incarceration. Our goal is to recruit, train, support and empower those called to this ministry. We strive to create a more just and merciful criminal justice system that upholds the dignity of every human person and advances restorative justice.

The Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition is a central hub for all Catholic jail, prison, and detention ministry efforts in the United States.  

Joseph House

The Joseph House is a home and community for men released from prison. We are a nonprofit ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. We offer a wide range of services for our brothers coming out of prison as we accompany them in their reintegration back into free society and their complete restoration into our communities.

Salary

While the weekly commitment is 25-35 hrs, there will be separate part-time contracts with each organization.
