Introducing “Conversations in Communion: Parish Dialogues for Connection and Understanding”

“The communion we share finds its deepest roots in the love and unity of the Trinity.  It is Christ who reconciles us to the Father and unites us with each other in the Holy Spirit.” (Synod Vademecum)

In today’s culture of division, disconnection, and marginalization, many Catholic communities are searching for ways to bridge divides and differences. To bridge these divides at the communal level, a different approach is necessary – one that requires deeply listening to one another with a readiness to be transformed by the Holy Spirit.

That’s why CMN created “Conversations in Communion: Parish Dialogues for Connection and Understanding.”

“Conversations in Communion” enables ministry leaders to embrace the restorative practice of circle process as a tool to be used on the journey toward becoming the listening, discerning Church we’re called to be. Engaging this practice will help us move toward deeper communion, fuller participation, and greater openness to fulfilling our mission in the world.

What is it?

“Conversations in Communion: Parish Dialogues for Connection and Understanding” is a formation program and facilitator guide that empowers Catholic parishes to build a culture of connection and understanding using the restorative practice of circle process.

The facilitator guide can be a discernment tool and practical support for facilitators planning these dialogues in local contexts. The companion training, offered virtually through CMN, provides instruction and practice in circle process, the method of dialogue used throughout this program. These sessions are guided by experienced circle process practitioners, with Catholic ministry backgrounds, eager to resource your needs and questions.

Who is it for?

“Conversations in Communion” was developed with parish small groups in mind. However, it can easily benefit Catholic ministries, religious orders, localized outreach ministries, Catholic schools and universities, community groups and beyond.

This program is ideal for ministry leaders of all kinds who desire to build capacity for deep listening, authentic encounters, and participation in their communities.
