“Redemption Way” Music Video

“Redemption Way” is performed by the NIA Men’s Chorus at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution in Ohio. It was composed by one of the group’s members, Brian.

In December 2023, the Deputy Warden at Chillicothe Correctional Institution in Ohio asked the Men’s Chorus there to sing for the men on death row at Christmas time. Brian was so moved by the experience that he wrote this song. In writing the words “every man has dignity, every man has a soul, we see you, we hear you,” the composer wanted to restore humanity to those living on death row by renaming death row — redemption way.

“Redemption Way” was premiered at Catholic Mobilizing Network’s First Friday Prayer Vigil on Jan. 3, 2025 — a gathering that is held virtually each month to join in collective prayer for those on death row, those with upcoming executions, the victims of violent crime, and everyone who is impacted by capital punishment.

Lyrics

“Redemption Way”, Brian Hudak

Every man has dignity, every man has a soul
We see you, we hear you
We will never forget or abandon you.
Where there’s faith there is hope
There is joy to be found, even in your darkest hour

To the men on death row, you are loved, you are loved, and you are never alone
To the men on death row, you are loved, you are loved, and you are never alone

Here is our prayer for you, step into the light
And know that we are here
We will pray for you, we will fight for you
You have worth to our God, you have purpose right here
You are valuable to God

To the men on death row, you are loved, you are loved, and you are never alone
To the men on death row, you are loved, you are loved, and you are never alone

We have a new name for death row
From now on we will call it Redemption Way, Redemption Way, Redemption Way, Redemption Way, Redemption Way, Redemption Way

To the men on Redemption Way, you are loved, you are loved
And you are never alone
To the men on Redemption Way, you are loved, you are loved
And you are never alone
