STOP the Execution of Leroy McGill
Please contact Governor Katie Hobbs urging her to stop the execution of Leroy McGill.
Arizona intends to execute Leroy McGill on May 20 for the 2002 murder of Charles Perez. If carried out, this would be the first execution in Arizona this year.
We oppose this execution as we do every execution. Capital punishment is an act of state sanctioned violence that violates the sacred dignity of every human life. In the words of Saint Pope John Paul II, “The dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil.”
Leroy is not seeking clemency. But his legal team is presenting several critical legal claims, including the fact that the jury who handed Leroy his death sentence was misinformed regarding the sentencing procedures and heard minimal mitigating evidence due to ineffective counsel.
Please contact Gov. Hobbs today to oppose the execution of Leroy McGill.
