STOP the Execution of Gregory Hunt
Please contact Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles urging them to grant clemency to Gregory Hunt, and stop his execution.
Alabama intends to execute Gregory Hunt on June 10 for the 1988 murder of Karen Lane.
We oppose this execution as we do every execution. Capital punishment is an act of state sanctioned violence that violates the sacred dignity of every human life. In the words of Saint Pope John Paul II, “The dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil.”
Gregory claims to have received ineffective assistance of counsel during both his trial and sentencing, in part because the State of Alabama provides insufficient funding for the compensation of capital defense attorneys.
Gregory had a traumatic childhood due to a violent and abusive father and foster care placements, however no witnesses were presented to speak to this issue, nor his drug use that started at an early age as a response to this traumatic upbringing.
Contact Governor Ivey and the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles today to support clemency for Gregory Hunt.
