STOP the Execution of Richard Djerf
Please contact Governor Katie Hobbs, urging her to stop the execution of Richard Djerf.
Arizona intends to execute Richard Djerf on October 17, 2025 for the 1993 murders of Albert Luna Sr., Patricia Luna, Rochelle Luna, and Damien Luna.
We oppose this execution as we do every execution. Capital punishment is an act of state-sanctioned violence that violates the sacred dignity of every human life. In the words of Saint Pope John Paul II, “The dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil.”
Richard was a 23-year-old man living with undiagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder and brain damage when he committed the crimes that condemned him to death. He was failed by a system that appointed ineffective counsel to represent him, including an attorney who suffered a psychotic break during her representation of him. The courts never considered the full extent of his serious mental health issues and brain damage when sentencing him to death.
Contact Gov. Hobbs to support clemency for Richard Djerf.
