Deacon Andy and Kate Grosmaire

Andy and Kate Grosmaire were introduced to restorative justice practices in 2010, when their daughter Ann was shot and killed by her boyfriend, Conor McBride. They successfully advocated for restorative justice to shape the plea agreement in Tallahassee, Florida, where the process was little known and had never been used for a capital crime.

The Grosmaires continue to advocate for restorative justice, having appeared on the TODAY Show and speaking at New York Law School, Campbell Law School, and other venues, including Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest, Alabama. The Grosmaires work with Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP) and speak about the power that forgiveness has had in their lives.

They are the co-founders of the Ann Grosmaire “Be The Change” Fund, a charitable fund to promote forgiveness and restorative justice practices under the Community Foundation of North Florida.

Andy is a permanent deacon in the diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, serving at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More. Kate is the author of “Forgiving My Daughter’s Killer: A true story of Loss, Faith, and Unexpected Grace.”
