Deacon Andy Orosco

Deacon Andy is Ipai-Kumeyaay of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, a federally recognized tribe located in North County, San Diego, and Tongva-Gabrielino from the Prado area northwest of Corona, both from his father’s side of ancestors. He is the first Ipai-Kumeyaay/Tongva-Gabrielino ordained deacon serving Bishop Gerald Barnes for the Diocese of San Bernardino — a diocese that has within its boundary 13 federally recognized tribes.

It is at six mission churches that Deacon Andy serves with the diocese’s Native American Ministry, alongside Rosanne, his wife of 40 years. Deacon Andy is very passionate and active in Native causes locally and nationally that help give a voice to America’s first people.
