Sr. Diane Kooriem, R.S.M,

Sr. Diane Koorie is a Sister of Mercy originally from New Orleans, LA, now living in Oklahoma City, OK. My years of initial formation in the community were spent in St. Louis, MO, where I attended St. Louis University graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry. I taught for several years in high schools in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. During these years I earned a Master’s in Science Education from the University of Georgia.
In addition to high school teaching, I ministered in diocesan youth ministry and catechesis in Oklahoma and Louisiana. Along the way, I earned a masters’ degree in religious education through the Institute for Ministry at Loyola New Orleans.

Following a term on the province leadership team in the late 1990s, from 2001-2017 I served as director of the pastoral ministry office in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City providing initial and ongoing formation for lay ministers.
Since 2017, I enjoy serving as a board member for a couple of Mercy hospitals and one of our sponsored Mercy high schools, as a catechumenate catechist at local parishes, and as an active member of the National Association for Lay Ministry. I am sister liaison with our OK Mercy Associates. Social justice advocacy is a main work for me now, both locally and nationally with several groups.
