STOP the Execution of Ralph Menzies

Please contact the Utah Board of Pardons and Paroles urging them to recommend clemency for Ralph Menzies.

Utah intends to execute Ralph Menzies on September 5, 2025 for the 1986 murder of Maruine Hunsaker. 

We oppose this execution as we do every execution. Capital punishment is an act of state sanctioned violence that violates the sacred dignity of every human life. In the words of Saint Pope John Paul II, “The dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil.” 

Ralph suffers from vascular dementia, a terminal condition that has progressed to the point that he no longer understands why the State of Utah is seeking to execute him.

Additionally, the trial judge who sentenced him to death no longer stands by that sentence, explaining that he misapplied the law and should have imposed a life sentence.
