Execution Pending
Thursday, May 2, 2019 (all day)

Texas plans to execute Dexter Johnson on Thursday, May 2, 2019 for the rape and murder of 23-year old Maria Aparece.

Johnson was denied by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals for habeas relief on his Fifth Amendment claim, as well as for his application for a certificate of appealability. Johnson's counsel argues extensive brain damage from a severe childhood injury rendered him mentally ill and removes his moral culpability in the case.

Write the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to ask for clemency for Mr. Johnson. Personalize this one-click letter to advocate on his behalf.

In Texas, the Governor MUST have the recommendation of clemency from a board or advisory group.
